We've gotten lots of questions about our new floor. We used rough hickory straight from the mill, it cost a little over $200 for 1075 ft. Since it was rough lumber, we got 6", 7" & 8" widths and the lengths varied from 6' to 16.2'. Our rabbitry is about 41' x 12', there were 3 rows using 12' pieces and the 4th row was a little under 6'. It took them (my husband & his helper) about 4 hours, 2 saw blades, many rechargable saw & drill batteries and about 10lbs of ribbed nails (I don't know the cost of the nails because they were given to us in exchange for eggs, rabbit meat & frozen vegis from the garden).
I can tell a huge difference in temperature, which has helped with preventing the water bottles from freezing. I'm also using half of the 8 heat lamps instead of all of them during the night. Cleaning is super quick since the floor is level/even now (we don't yet have trays under the cages, so it all falls on the floor).
